Advising Enterprise-Grade AI Capstones at Carnegie Mellon

A group shot of one of the capstone teams

I served as Faculty Advisor to two capstone teams this semester in Carnegie Mellon’s Master of Information Systems Management (MISM) program, one of the most technically rigorous and industry-embedded IT programs in the country.

Pictured here is one of those teams, which partnered with Federated Hermes on a core enterprise challenge: Enabling responsible AI adoption in a highly regulated financial environment. Their work focused on improving AI literacy and prompt quality for non-technical teams, with governance and compliance designed in from the start.

The project required disciplined systems thinking, sound architectural judgment, and an understanding of how AI systems must operate under regulatory, security, and organizational constraints.
